Sergio Garcia (68-204): "Steve played an unbelievable round, but it feels good to have a three-shot lead and to see the way I played today. Overall, it's great and I'm looking forward to tomorrow. It's going to be hard day, but hopefully one to remember. I'm not trying to do anything different. I am believing in myself as much as possible. That's what I did Thursday, most parts of Friday and that's what I did today. The only thing I can control is myself. If I'm in control of the way I'm hitting the ball, it's right there for the taking. This week has definitely been tiring, but for everybody - majors are always tiring. There is nothing better than seeing your name at the top of the leaderboard day after day. I would not change it for the world. I only depend on myself. I'll be aggressive when I feel like I can and hopefully it will be good enough."
Steve Stricker (64-207): "That was a pretty magical round. I still have one day to try to do this and I have to keep my head down, keep working and hopefully good things will happen tomorrow. We've got a long way to go but it would obviously be very special to win over here in the home of golf. I'm thrilled to be in the position I'm in. "I had many opportunities and I ended up making quite a lot of them. It was quite a day and quite an experience. I had no idea what the course record was; I was just trying to move up the leaderboard as well as I could. Course records are nice but the real deal is the tournament."
KJ Choi (72-210): "Overall, today was difficult. Going to the back nine, it started to rain and the temperature dropped. I didn't have a feel for my body. I don't think I shot that badly today. Some of my putts didn't go in, and I didn't have my rhythm out there. It was so cold out there and I hate this kind of weather. Today I bogeyed the last hole, but it's not the end of the world."
Ernie Els (68-210): "There were opportunities today and I had a lot fun, apart from one tee shot. You think your tournament is over, and it still might be, but hopefully Sergio gives us a bit of a chance. Obviously Sergio is going for his first major, he is going to have a lot to think about. I've been in that position. You can't hope for him to play badly, I have to try to get something going and hope for a bit more breeze to test the leaders a bit more. Last week I was five behind and almost got there (he shot 65 in the last round of the Scottish Open to finish third) and I have to do the same tomorrow."
Padraig Harrington (68-210): "I certainly would have felt a lot better with a couple more birdies. A 68 was a nice return but probably not good enough to really get in there. I had three or four putts that just drifted by but hopefully the patience I've shown today will pay off tomorrow. I feel I have a low round in me. I just have to stay patient and let it happen. Hopefully it will happen tomorrow. But it's left it very much in Sergio's hands. He is very much in control. It's possible but a lot depends on him."
Paul Broadhurst (68-210): "At the turn I was thinking if I can hold it together at one or two over I would be quite happy but to finish like that was great on a seriously difficult stretch. It's one of the hardest back nines in golf and to come back in 31 is what dreams are made of."
Tiger Woods (69-212): "You just have to grind it out. I have to play a little bit better than I have been, that's for sure, but at least I've given myself a chance. "Paul (Lawrie) came from 10 back in 1999 (in the final round) so you can do it on this golf course."
Paul McGinley (68-210): "I don't want to think about winning the British Open. It's one step at a time. I've got to wait for birdie opportunities. I'm very pleased with the way I played today and Thursday was the first time I've played decent all season."
Chris DiMarco (66-210): "I felt like I learned the strategy of the course the last couple of days. I think yesterday's round (70) gave me a lot of confidence. I hit the ball the best I have done all year. I'm going to go out tomorrow and play aggressively, playing the course like I've been playing the course."
Justin Rose (67-212): "I had a job to do yesterday, to get myself back in the tournament, and today was to get myself back into contention. The round went according to plan and put me in decent shape, but who knows what the leaders are going to do. I can't afford to make too many bogeys tomorrow. I'd rather get the ball in play, lots of fairways and lots of greens and hopefully have a hot day with the putter rather than trying to force birdies."
Pelle Edberg (67-212): "To come here was a real bonus. It's been a big difference the last month and I'm really enjoying it. I think I'm too far behind [to win], but you never know what's going to happen with the weather."
Zach Johnson (68-214): "It was good and solid. Early on it could have been a lot better, I missed a lot of putts but all in all I'm very pleased. Hopefully I can keep the momentum going tomorrow. I am very pleased with my game and I hope I can maintain it. I hit the ball a lot more solid, the most solid for two weeks."
Ian Poulter (70-216): "My lunch is going to taste pretty sour. I'm pretty frustrated to move through the field as quickly as I did and drop back, knowing it's going to be horrific for the guys this afternoon. I thought it was a great opportunity to shoot low. I missed a few chances and at five under was thinking I could have been eight or nine under. I made one bad swing on 15 - I've struggled with that drive all week - and then my nine iron got caught in the rough and went straight left into a bush. It was a snowball effect and I dropped four shots, it was a real kick in the teeth."
Rory McIlroy (73-217): "I struggled again around the middle part of the round - the middle five or six holes I didn't play particularly well. I lost my confidence a bit and was getting down on myself. But I made a birdie on 12 and that got me going again. But I got off to pretty nice start and I finished really well, two under for my last seven holes. I'm really happy with the way I putted today. I worked on that yesterday afternoon and it was really good today. Overall, I'm happy enough and, if I can go out tomorrow and shoot something in the 60s, I'll be really happy."
