| Singh was one of several big names to miss the cut at Carnoustie last time but that was out of character when you examine his overall Open record. In an unbroken run of 18 Open visits since 1989, Singh has made the top 20 on 10 occasions. His closest brush with victory came at Sandwich in 2003. He held the lead during the final round but eventually finished one shot back from shock winner Ben Curtis. Fifth at St Andrews two years ago, the Fijian remains a leading contender in this event and despite the advancing years - he turned 44 in February - he's still a regular tournament winner. Singh has banked first prize cheques at the Mercedes and the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2007 and if his putting holds up he should feature prominently again. |
