| OPEN PROFILE |
 |
| The big-hitting Argentine had never really done justice to his obvious talents but he changed that perception by capturing the US Open at Oakmont last month. While his rivals were battered into submission by the fiendishly difficult par 70, Cabrera somehow twice shot under par and that was good enough to give him a one-shot win over Tiger Woods and Jim Furyk. Intriguingly, his best major finish prior to that was his fourth place at Carnoustie in 1999 so it's no wonder that some punters are backing him to pull of a US Open/Open double. Also seventh at Hoylake last year, Cabrera enjoys links golf and shot a 69 at Carnoustie when 12th in the 2004 Dunhill Links. |
